The Leading Builder in Quality, Care and Service.

Selecting a Contractor

Your new home is a major financial investment.

Know your contractor!

Take time to make the necessary inquiries needed
to put your mind at ease about decisions you are making.

Ar-Cal Development, Inc. is proud of its reputation as a responsible contractor, (licensed for residential Arizona), and maintains an impressive record of quality and service...demonstrated by numerous repeat clients and continued builder recommendations from satisfied homeowners.

You will find there are no "starts and stops" to the construction phases of an Ar-Cal home. Once building has begun, your new home is completed as scheduled and agreed upon; typically within four to five months, depending on the size of your house.

Ar-Cal contractor and co-owner, Don Albers is a "hands-on", ON-SITE general contractor. Using the finest materials available, Don and his crew continue to do their own framing and finish work.

All other professional trades are performed by the area's top subcontractors, most of whom have been with Ar-Cal Development, Inc. for more than a decade.

All this adds up to homes that are
superior in quality, and most importantly...
it adds up to happy customers!

Ar-Cal Development, Inc. considers every house a HOME. They do not believe in mass production home building. Every house is built individually for a specific homeowner.

Purchasing a new home is a major decision. And making the determination to have a home BUILT specifically for you can be intimidating. Choosing a builder deserves thoughtful consideration. You will be entrusting that company with your investment AND dreams!

Ar-Cal Development, Inc. suggests you gain confidence in your decision
by seeking both customer referrals AND builder interviews.

Homeowner Referrals...

Satisfied (or dissatisfied) customers are an excellent source of information. Ask friends and family or...if you are new to the area...drive around within the residential areas you are considering, and note the homes you like.
Leave these homeowners a note requesting information on their home builder, providing them with a local phone number (or SASE-L and mailing address) for their reply. Ask them if their finished home looked like they had expected when it was completed. Ask them if the building went smoothly...starting and finishing as promised. Ask them if there were unexpected charges and/or expenses that the builders had not discussed with them. And finally, ask them if they would select the same contractor again if they were to build another home.

Interviewing Builders...

When interviewing builders in the Colorado River Basin, request to meet with the individual(s) who will be overseeing your construction project. Are they the owner of the construction firm, or an employed supervisor?
Does this person have actual "hands-on" building experience? How extensive is that experience? Inquire into what segments of your construction will be performed by the builder/contractor and what segments will be subcontracted out to others. Inquire how long these subcontractors have been working for this builder.

Investigate Your Options...

Does the builder allow individual changes and alterations, and/or upgrades, to the design you would be selecting? Does this builder welcome home owner's visits to the construction site during the various construction phases? Inquire as to how long the builder has been licensed in the state of Arizona. Are there breaks in his/her licensure? Why? How long has the builder been established in this area?
